MacOS PPP Dial-up Setup
Basic Software Requirements
Macintosh system 7.0 or later contains
the following essential components. Any system prior to 7.0 will require a
third party TCP/IP stack to facilitate the PPP connection. This document
deals only with Macintosh's MacTCP.

DNR - System Folder
PPP Installation
- Insert
disk one of the MacOS (system 7.0 or later)
- Move
the contents of the PPP Software folder to your system folder icon and
click OK
- Move
the contents of the PPP Preferences folder from your System Folder to
your Preferences
- Shutdown
and restart the Macintosh.
MacTCP Configuration
- Go
to the Control Panels Folder and open the MacTCP control panel
- Highlight
the PPP Icon under MacTCP and click on the More button
- Select
the Server button from the Obtain Address field
- In
the IP Address field, Select Class C
- In
the IP Address field, Input 255.255.255.0 for the Subnet Mask
- In
the Domain Name Server field enter your domain (i.e. izap.com)
- In
the IP address column enter 154.6.115.10
- In
the secondary IP address column enter 154.6.115.20
- Click
OK and close the Control Panel
- Restart
the Macintosh
PPP Configuration
- Open
the Config PPP Control Panel
- Click
on New and enter your POP server name (Internet Zap)
- Select
the port your modem is connected to
- Select
15 minutes as your idle Time-out
- Select
Off for Echo Interval
- Select
the Hang-up on Close check box
- Click
the Config button
- Select
the CTS & RTS (DTR) for/or your Flow Control
- Select
a port speed for your modem
- Choose
the dial method.
- In
the Phone num test box enter the local access number for your ISP Izap
(use "*70", to disable call waiting)
- Consult
your modem's manual to enter the correct Modem Initialization string
- Enter
a modem connect time-out of 60 seconds
- Click
the IPCP Options button and edit the fields as shown below in Table 1
- Click
OK
- Click
the Authentication button
- Enter
your ID/Login name (5037login name)
- Enter
your password
- Click
OK
- Click
