These instructions are intended for use by persons having a good working knowledge of the Windows 95/98 operating system. This should include the ability to configure portions of the Windows 95/98 operating system, install new programs and create program groups and icons.

The user should be aware that the initial configuration of an individual Windows 95/98 systems may alter the effectiveness of the procedures outlined herein.

I. Install Dial-Up Networking:

  • Place your Windows95/98 CD into your CD-ROM drive or have your installation disks handy.

  • Click on START, then SETTINGS, then CONTROL PANEL.

  • Double-click ADD/REM PROGRAMS.

  • Click on the WINDOWS SETUP tab. (Along the top of the window)

  • Click on COMMUNICATIONS, then DETAIL.

  • Make sure the DIAL-UP NETWORKING box is checked.

  • Click OK on all the menus back to the Control Panel.

  • Windows 95/98 will install files from the CD-ROM or ask you to insert the installation disks.

  • Don't restart the computer yet.

    II. Add TCP/IP protocol:

  • Click on START, then SETTINGS, then CONTROL PANEL.

  • Double-click on NETWORK.

  • Click on ADD, then PROTOCOL, then ADD

  • For the manufacturer select MICROSOFT and TCP/IP as the protocol.

  • Click OK on all the menus back to the Control Panel.

  • Windows 95/98 will add TCP/IP.

  • Select IP Address choose Obtain an IP address automatically.

  • Select DNS Configuration Select Enable DNS Host: your_login_name Domain: izap.com

  • DNS server Search Order type 154.6.115.10 select Add type 154.6.115.20 select add then select ok

  • Restart the computer.

    III. Set up your dial up icon:

  • Click on START, then PROGRAMS, then ACCESSORIES, then DIAL-UP NETWORKING.

  • Fill in the information it asks for or click on MAKE NEW CONNECTIONS and fill in the information it asks for. You can name the icon IZAP and the phone numbers that will be provided to you (see locall call)

  • You will now have an IZAP Network icon in your Dial-Up Networking folder.

    IV. Using the Account To log in:

  •  Double-click on your IZAP icon.

  •  Click CONNECT and in USER NAME type: 5037your_login_name (in lower case) and your password (Note the prefix 5037 is only needed for the PPP dial up)

  • Windows will tell you when you are connected (eventually)
